Hello again,
Please excuse the english but French is difficult enough, but german has just passed me by. Although at 40 I thought I would never need French, now I have lived here 20 years, now at 62 I think I will never need German!!! Who Knows.
To the Percheron. From my rather patchy information, the tractor was built in France before the last war, although as far as I can see there was not much done.
After the war as "War Reparations" Lanz had to give the specifications and help to the French Government to build their own 7506. This was called "Le Percheron" almost identical in all ways to the 7506. From owning one now for 1 month I am sure that there are even some Lanz parts in the tractor. The bulkhead for example:- the Lanz has a petrol control knob on the dashboard with a control rod that passes behind the clutch flywheel. The percheron has a slightly different petrol tap attached to the injection pump that stands sideways and so one has to dismount before changing from petrol too straight diesel so there is no handwheel/tap in the driver's position.
BUT the hole in the bulkhead/dashboard is there exactly as on the 7506.
The tractors were made in ernest here in France at Colombes/ Soissons by SNCAC between 1947 & 1955. There were about 3000 made. Some had a modernistic, typically french flying wings logo, but later on they actually had a horse beautifully crafted onto the front water passage.
Going back to our Percheron, it runs quite well, but the keyway between the crankshaft and the clutch flyweel is badly worn, I have today rebuilt as a temporary measure the original key, but one day I will have to have the flywheel and crankshaft rebroached and a new key made up and fitted. This won't be done for a while so I will have to put up with shims alround.
I hope that I have answered your quesion,.
If someone could translate the basic facts into German for those of you who don't speak English I would be very glad.
Thank you for listening to me.
