Beitragvon Peter Schuth » 16.08.2006, 01:32

Hallo,
wer kann mir das Baujahr (Zeitraum) des oben genannten Schleppers nennen ?
Es handelt sich um einen Nachbau des Lanz Bulldog 7506.

Gruß Peter

Hello, I am not sure what your question is, but your thread came up when I asked for Percheron as a search.

We have just acquired a "Le Percheron" which has not run for between 25 and 30 years, it took more than a year do convince the owner to sell it to us. After a few hours cleaning, ensuring that there is oil going to everywhere, desmantling the injector pump and heating the bulb it ran, much to everybody's surprise

I have had several short runs around the village with it, but the rgulator seems a little sticky, but we will overcome!

It is in essence exactly the same as a 7506

Best wishes

Hello,

The question was in which space of time the Le Percheron A1 tractors were build.

Hello again,
Please excuse the english but French is difficult enough, but german has just passed me by. Although at 40 I thought I would never need French, now I have lived here 20 years, now at 62 I think I will never need German!!! Who Knows.

To the Percheron. From my rather patchy information, the tractor was built in France before the last war, although as far as I can see there was not much done.

After the war as "War Reparations" Lanz had to give the specifications and help to the French Government to build their own 7506. This was called "Le Percheron" almost identical in all ways to the 7506. From owning one now for 1 month I am sure that there are even some Lanz parts in the tractor. The bulkhead for example:- the Lanz has a petrol control knob on the dashboard with a control rod that passes behind the clutch flywheel. The percheron has a slightly different petrol tap attached to the injection pump that stands sideways and so one has to dismount before changing from petrol too straight diesel so there is no handwheel/tap in the driver's position.

BUT the hole in the bulkhead/dashboard is there exactly as on the 7506.

The tractors were made in ernest here in France at Colombes/ Soissons by SNCAC between 1947 & 1955. There were about 3000 made. Some had a modernistic, typically french flying wings logo, but later on they actually had a horse beautifully crafted onto the front water passage.

Going back to our Percheron, it runs quite well, but the keyway between the crankshaft and the clutch flyweel is badly worn, I have today rebuilt as a temporary measure the original key, but one day I will have to have the flywheel and crankshaft rebroached and a new key made up and fitted. This won't be done for a while so I will have to put up with shims alround.

I hope that I have answered your quesion,.

If someone could translate the basic facts into German for those of you who don't speak English I would be very glad.

Thank you for listening to me.

Le percheron

Beitragvon patfinistere » 28.10.2007, 19:37

Now a few months have passed, Le Percheron runs very well after a lot of taking the Left Hand flywheel off and ajusting the govenor, Now it pulls like a train and sounds like a rifle shot!
A photo so you can see it.

I am hoping to dismantle the engine completely this winter and renw bearings, oilseals and whatever else I can find to improve this lovely tractor, then a good repaint ready for the road!

Best wishes

very cool tractor, good luck with the restauration and post some pics!

the petrol/diesel tap you described on your tractor existed on older Lanz 7506 versions too, we have one like yours (1949) and one with the tap in the cabin (1950).
the sheetmetal housing around the fanbelt seems to be differnt, and obviously the rear fenders too.

Hi, thanks for the reply, Yes the cover on the fanbelt is a bit different to Lanz. I think the Lanz sometimes has the dynamo in that casing with a longer fan belt.
On the percheron the dynamo is gear driven between the flywheel and the back left wheel, you can see it with a little square aluminium instruction plate in the photo.
I am looking forward to taking this one to pieces and getting it in order and lookinga a bit more respecible, At present it is coated in oil which makes it look a lot more cleaner, but it is only an impression!

Le Percheron

Beitragvon Andy Watson » 02.12.2007, 20:27

Hello Peter,
Various German and French books and magazine articles on the history of the Percheron tractor seem to disagree about when the first tractor was made. Some say before the war (1938/1939 ?) and other say 1947.
I believe the last tractor was built in 1956/1957, and about 3,500 were made.
I am compiling a list of Percherons which still exist - a Percheron Register, alongside the Lanz Bulldog Register. I have found 18 Percherons so far. If anyone reading this has a Percheron tractor please e-mail me.
Best wishes from England.
